Becoming a private tutor is almost as difficult (but as beautiful) as being one, so that is why you have to know some important aspects concerning this matter before deciding if you want to be one. First, you have to know what exactly this job will require from you. A private tutor is actually a private instructor who teaches a specific educational subject or skill either to a student or to a small group of students.
Private tuition is such a wonderful job because we all know how refreshing it is for the mind and for the spirit when surrounded by smart, sociable, full-of-life students. Although many people say that private tuition is one of the easiest jobs around, it is not exactly like that. It is, indeed, much easier, relaxing and refreshing to work with students to whom you can pass over some knowledge that they will certainly use later and be grateful towards you in time than, for example, to sit behind a desk at a bank all day and work with a stack of numbers and papers.
However, this does not mean that the job of a private tutor stays at a low level. You have to be as responsible as with any other job and always remember that the information you teach your students will be useful to them all throughout their lives and will shape, one way or another, their cerebral skills.
Being a private tutor is more than a job – be it the only one or a complementary one, in order to increase your financial resources – which you do just for the sake of doing it. You have to involve fully in tutoring. If you have seen “The dead poets’ society”, you certainly have a much relevant idea of what private tuition should be. In addition, it would sure help you to conceive your own manner of tutoring, because a tutor is often more than what a regular teacher is.
He or she can become – and in most cases, that is what eventually happens – a mentor, a true role model. He or she has to be careful about everything he or she does and says. Most of all, he or she has to have such a one-to-one tuition approach that it should the students feel that they are not learning something because they have to, but because this is an entirely natural process. It should be a dialogue with a person in full knowledge of some things that his or her interlocutor does not know.
Because private tuition necessitates the attention that the tutor offers to each of his or her particular students/students, the tutor has the wonderful opportunity of improve the knowledge or skills of his or her “pupils” far more rapidly than in a classroom setting. Personal tutoring can also occur when an adult decides to help another adult student with the study of a specific course that he/she is taking in order to obtain a better result. If he or she decides that it is better this way, the adult can let the student work all on his or her own, and only be there if the student has any questions.
Whether it is in dance, dramatic arts or music, talent needs careful nurturing. Who could help one better than a private tutor? Therefore, stop waiting and start gathering the benefits of private tuition right now.
