Child’s Play
by Rick Hagler

Relax for a moment and put the worries of the day aside. Take a brief trip back to your childhood. Go back to a time when every moment was a discovery and imaginations ran wild. A time where minutes seemed like hours, hours like days, days like weeks and weeks like months.

Slip back to a time when a sheet draped across two bedposts and tied to a doorknob became a castle, and a mere cardboard box became a fort that would withstand your worst imaginary enemies.

Go back to a time when the simplest tea party was an event to behold. Where silver dollar sized saucers with tiny tea cups allowed you to “sip” for what seemed like hours. No matter how much air you poured out of an empty tea pot, the results were always the same, “Hmm, this is so good, may I have some more please?”

Back to a time when there wasn’t a “boo-boo” that couldn’t be healed by the gentle kiss of a loving parent. Where the warmth of a hug could instantly make a bad day good, sooth the most hurt feelings, protect you from all fears, and dry the worst of tears.

When the ritual of going to bed meant being snuggly tucked in, saying a prayer, and having a loving kiss placed upon your forehead. Then, “Good night, I love you. Don’t let the bed bugs bite.” “Hey mom, leave the light on!”

As you lay for a moment in loneliness the thoughts of the day, and dreams of another, draws a brief smile across your face. You gently fall to sleep while planning your tomorrow, and, in what seems like only minutes, you awaken to another day. This wonderful journey we call life, and the anticipation of what the day has to bring, starts again.

Give yourself a little childhood break from time to time. Forget the worries of the day, the expectations of uncertain grown-up tomorrows, and the problems of the world.

Take some time to crawl into yourself, absorb the pleasantries of the past and enjoy the simple things in life………if only for a little while.

Imagine peace, tranquility, happiness and love, as if you didn’t know there was anything else, you know, just like a child.

When are you going to take your “child’s play” break?

Don’t wait too long. Go ahead be a kid again, if only for a little while……. it’s ok.

Fun wasn’t it?
