What’s Your Deadline?
by Rick Hagler
Everyone has deadlines. It could be a project deadline for work, a deadline to get your taxes filed, a deadline register for something, or countless other deadlines that we encounter during our journey through life.
Unfortunately, the ultimate deadline, the only deadline that really matters in life, remains a moving target for most, the deadline to get to a Happy Place.
Everyone has happy moments, based off sometimes insignificant accomplishments, and many justifiable life changing happenings as well. I was happy when I got my first car, I was happy when I graduated from High School, I was happy when I survived basic training in the Army. I was overwhelmingly happy when I met and married my wife, and again at the birth of our daughters. I was breathtakingly happy at the birth of our grandchildren, and many, many other happy events throughout my life.
However, amid these, and innumerable other, “happy moments” in my life, are the sad and hurtful times as well. Life events such as the loss of family and friends, enduring personal financial hardships, struggling with illnesses, dealing with job losses, observing your family or friends in pain, and struggling with life’s daily challenges are just a few reoccurring issues that interrupt the happy cycles.
The happy I’m speaking of isn’t pockets of happiness, although we welcome all happy times, but it’s being happy with where you are in life and with who you are in life.
If I were you, I’d put my deadline to being happy at the top of my “To Do” list.
Finding the way to being happy with who you are and where you are in you life, and in your work and business relationships, will put all other “deadlines” into perspective. Sort out the things that are important, really important, in your life and take care of them first.
Get your physical, emotional, and spiritual self together. By getting these three key life forces under control you can and will endure all of life’s challenges successfully, and in addition, you will be able to help others along the way.
All other “deadlines” will come into perspective and you will also find they will become more attainable when you have your “self’ together.
None of us can be happy with every situation we encounter, however, we can be happy with ourselves unconditionally, which in turn will allow us to be able to face any challenge knowing that when all is said and done, that “It’ll Be OK!”
