Business cards have been around forever, and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. They act as your personal calling card, so of course you want them to express who you are, and what you are all about. However, with virtually every businessperson having their own card, you have to make yours stand out, too. Here are some tips to help you do just that.
Tip Number One: Use an unusual design
You would be amazed by what you can do with your business cards these days. In fact, many business cards are not even “cards” anymore. Modern business cards can take on many different shapes and sizes, and this means that you can do much more advertising just with your business card.
Here are just a few ideas:
• You can make your business card in the form of a small envelope, and include something special inside.
• Instead of using paper, you can use a small piece of plastic and put laminate or colorful designs on it.
• You can have business card in the form of dog tags.
• Use the shape of a paper airplane.
There really is no limit to what you can do with your business card. Be creative!
Tip Number Two: Use both sides!
Why are there so many business cards that only use the front side? If you think about it, doing so is a monumental waste of space. Yes, using both sides will cost you a bit more when you get your business card printing done, but it is well worth it. If you use the back, you can include so much more than just your name and contact information. You can include more information about your products or services. You can put a special offer on the back to entice the customer to do business with you. You can even put something useful on the back, even if it has nothing to do with your business, just to ensure that people will use your card and, thus, keep looking at it.
Tip Number Three: Make it simple
By this, I do not mean make your design simple; I mean make your information simple. Make it clear what products or services you offer. The most creative and attractive design will still get you nowhere if you confuse your customers.
Tip Number Four: Use good design principles
Use contrasting colors to make important information stand out. If you do not use color, stick with the best contrast: black letters on a white background. Also, keep everything properly aligned, unless you are purposely going for a haphazard affect. Make sure all of your text lines up, and all of your lines are attractively placed. Finally, keep related information (such as your name and title) close to each other.
The basic rule of thumb is to be creative, without getting so crazy that your design overwhelms your customers.
These are just a few simple techniques to make your business card printing successful in these high-tech times we live in.
