MSNBC drops Cancer Fund Raiser Amid the Imus racial remarks the media is raping for ratings, MSNBC did one of the worst things a corporation could do. They dropped the syndication of “Imus in the Morning” one day prior to the Cancer fundraiser that Imus has sponsored for 18 years. This results in a huge loss of listeners that could help raise millions of dollars for children with cancer.
Opie and Anthony have done an outstanding job on XM reaching millions of listeners and encouraging listeners to donate, and letting people know that MSNBC has done something to show mainstream America that they are good for cancelling the syndication of Imus, when in reality they cost those children millions in funding for treatment.
To go a step further they are running the news of themselves cancelling Imus for ratings on their channel and asking for comments about it with a phone number to call. Why are they not at least posting the phone number for the charity? They take advantage of something they helped to destroy just to make additional money out of it. This cooperation should be boycotted, or penalized for they double standard. They are willing to appease to some of America while crushing a benefit that has been going for almost two decades that help our children.
Where is the decency? Why is no one talking about this? I would rather hear “Nappy Headed Ho’s” then see someone’s dying child not get the funding they could have had. This is a true outrage! Where is the mainstream or leaders saying this to America? I think that MSNBC should donate a couple million to the charity just to make up for the loss in listeners. I also think they should give an additional couple million to charity since they are benefiting off of Imus being pulled since they did it and are making money from it. They could have at least waited two more days after the fundraiser to remove the syndication.
Despicable is all that comes to mind when I heard this, and we as America need to stand up on this issue. Words are one thing, but genuine charities are another. This isn’t about Imus, this is about a powerhouse cooperation that could care less about the children and use their positions to make even more money off of the tragedies we have. This is a sad day that no one is beating down their door and making a point. I want to say thank you to Opie and Anthony (Jimmy too) for pointing this out and at least having the guts to say it. I can only hope the rest of America can see this truth as well.
